On Test:
Camera, Transferring Pictures, MMS, Email
Tel.me T919 includes a digital camera capable to produce CIF
quality pictures (352 x 288 pixels). The size of the pictures
are smaller than the ones by Nokia 3650 and SE P800. In fact,
users can have three choices on the photo resolution. CIF, 118 x
167 resolution for photo caller displays, 256 x 118 for handset
wallpapers. Users can set daytime and evening time mode,
however, no photo frame is provided.
To take a picture, users can activate the photo-taking feature
from the 1st page of the menu. The camera is placed at the back
of the handset. It should aware that the users' hand can easily
cover the camera. Users can hold the handset horizontally to
solve the problem. Then, users press the middle key on left side
of the handset to take a picture. The up and down key are for 10
sec countdown self photos taking. It takes about 2 seconds to
store a photo. All the photos are saved in the handset memory.
We have tried to compare the photo quality from T919 and with
ones from Nokia 3650, T919's photos are very foggy. All photos
can be found in the photo album. Users can preview the pictures
according to the file names or small thumbnails. If users choose
the thumbnail mode, the speed is very slow. We don't think users
can tolerate the slow speed. However, T919 includes the slide
show feature, the photos can be shown one by one. Using it as a
digital photo album is fun too.
Users can send the photos through MMS and email. T919 supports
MMS 1.0 release 99. Each MMS can include texts, one photo and a
pre-set sound. ThreeGMobile has tried to use Hong Kong local
network "Peoples" to send and receive MMS. The T919 can receive
the MMS message and display properly from a Nokia 7650 handset.
However, we cannot send MMS out. In fact, the retailer in Hong
Kong does not mention the MMS feature in the functions list. The
spokesman said that this early version does not support MMS at
all. We recommended the users to check out the availability of
MMS function from Tel.me website .
ThreeGMobile team also tried the email sending and receiving.
The speed is faster than the similar feature from Nokia 3650.
T919 can receive Microsoft Word documents. The document is
automatically transferred to the notepad and can be opened
immediately. However, all formatting is disappeared. The
embedded email client supports texts and also picture and other
file attachment. At the same time, Tel.me T919 supports EMS.
However, the operation is more complicated than MMS. Unlike Sony
Ericsson handset, T919 does not include any preset any EMS
icons. Only few EMS sounds are included.
