3G Fashion : Nokia 7600
Updated: 4 Jan 2004 ( Page 2 )
The Outlook
Nokia 7600 is probably the trendiest 3G phone. The rhombus outlook itself tells you.
Fashionable design does not necessarily mean convenience. The rhombus shape is not
small, and makes the handset wider than the normal bar shape phone. The hand needs
to expand more to hold the phone tight. The uncomfortable feeling gets badly when
talking on the phone directly using the earpiece. Unluckily enough the keypad is
diverted into left and right part. Users find it hard to dial a number using one hand.
Instead of changeable faceplate, Nokia 7600 uses Xpress-on sleeves in both sides. The
material also prevents the slippery hand.
The Screen
Nokia 7600 comes with a better screen than all other Non- Series 60 color display
handset. Actually, Nokia uses Series 45 (for 3G phones) instead of 40. The screen is
larger physically and got better resolution (128 x 160 pixels compared to 128 x 128
pixels). In addition to the enhanced TFT screen and 65,000 colors, the picture is
shown more lively and clearer. We have compared the pictures quality shown between
Nokia 7600 and Nokia 3650. We find that the screen of 7600 is brighter but looks
duller. The result is similar with the comparison of 6600 and 3650. Thanks for the
Series 45 interface, users can assign full screen background picture, while Nokia
3650 cannot.
