Sony Ericsson finally announced the First
Walkman Phone after the early disclosure in 3GSM Congress 2005. From
the word ''Walkman'', you can imagine the phone can act as a portable
music players. Together with the high resolution camera (up to 2mpx
pixels) and advanced mobile phone features, the phone is especially
designed for the one who wants a phone with all advanced features.
The named Walkman means that the phone will have large memory. The
W800i comes with 38MB internal memory. The original package includes a
512MB memory stick Pro duo for more music storage. The in-box
Disk2Phone software also proivdes a tools for song ripping and
transfering. The uses of MP3 and AAC format also let the users choose
the between the most common or the most memory saving music format.
Sony Ericsson also designed a music player interface to the phone. The
W800i supports playlist and music-only backplay for the easy use
during the plane journey. if turning the phone off, the music can be
played up to 30 hours. With the phone on, 15 hours playback can be
achieved too.
Besides music, The W800i also comes with a 2mpx camera. The photo
light and the snap on flash light accessories also guaranteed photos
shooting in the dark.
